Parent Welcome Letter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 100 Elk Outdoor Center! We’re excited to have your child join us with their classmates and teachers for an unforgettable experience. We wanted to let you know a little bit about what’s in store for your student.

The mission of the 100 Elk Outdoor Center is “Revealing the Possibilities Within.” During their time here, students work with small groups and rotate through a variety of activities. Through these activities, we create opportunities for your child to discover abilities, talents and skills that they may not know they possess and to take what they do know to new levels. 100 Elk staff work closely with each student to help him or her identify and accomplish appropriate goals for each activity.

100 Elk Outdoor Center is located at 9,000 ft. in Buena Vista, Colorado on 1,110 acres. Students live in heated logs cabins with indoor bathrooms chaperoned by teachers and parents. We eat our meals together family style in our main lodge and students help with a variety of cleaning chores.

To help prepare your student for their time at 100 Elk we have provided a packing list that outlines the items needed for a comfortable and safe outdoor education experience. Please label these items to help them return home again. We also have a 100 Elk store with T-shirts and water bottles. Please see the packing list for more information about this.

If you need to get a message to your child in the case of an emergency, please call 719-395-2468 and let the office staff know that you need to get a message to a 100 Elk participant. We will make sure it gets to them.

We look forward to sharing an amazing experience with your child.
